Blog Entry: Waikato Hockey Association administrator Denise Hill is a bundle of energy. The 50-year-old mother of three (and grandmother of one) is a confident, fit woman, who has run marathons and has "a full-on life". But when it comes to fashion, Hill admits she "is not Manchester City confident in dressing up". A self-described "casual dresser", Hill wrote to Tempo asking for fashion advice. "I wear jeans to work and when I dress up I wear black trousers," said Hill. "My image is sporty, casual and not sophisticated." She was frustrated with her dull wardrobe and the way it outwardly reflected her personality. "I want to be funky," said Hill. "I'm a funky sort of person, but I don't dress funky. When I dress professionally I tend to dress in black and white, but I'm not a black and white sort of person. I'm a colourful person." Hill wanted to look more modern, dramatic and funky "The opposite of bland. It's in my personality to be funky, and I'd like to dress that way, but I'm not sure how." A body builder, who is "living on egg white and tofu", Hill works out at the gym most mornings before work. She's also been a vegetarian for 27 years, and her healthy lifestyle is reflected in her size 12-14 figure. Hamilton image coach Jan Fisher says Hill should dress to emphasise her assets, including a lovely hourglass or x-shaped figure. With a defined waist, and balanced across the diagonal at the shoulders and hips, Hill has a figure type many try to mimic in dressing. "She does have luscious thighs though," adds Fisher. "So in dressing her, we want to show off her waist and disguise her upper thighs. We want outfits that are going to drape over the thigh, nothing that is going to cling." Hill should go for darker coloured trousers. Bootleg jeans would also flatter her figure, as they do many Kiwi women, because the slight flare balances out curves at thighs and hips. She has an elliptical shape, which means, although she is slim from a side angle, from the front Hill appears wider. Wrap tops and fitted jackets are flattering, as long as they don't cut straight across the front. Tops should be layered on a slight angle. Analysing Hill's colours, Fisher says although her eyes are warm and skin freckled due to the New Zealand sun, Hill is in fact a "dusky cool deep". "It threw me initially, but she had dark hair as a child and had cooler skin when she was younger. Yellows look yuck on her, and she looked much better in greys." Twilight colours suit Hill, including indigos, greys, and dark teals. "They are not as sharp or intense as winter' colours," says Fisher. "She also looks better in silver jewellery." Bold, artistic jewellery also adds punch to her outfits, "funking up" the overall image. Local stores such as ArtsPost and Soul have some good original pieces from local and New Zealand artists. It's all about bringing out personality and individuality, but staying true to the person. Although Hill can pull off a feminine look, emphasising her curves, she baulks at anything too frou frou. "It's definitely no to ruffles," she laughs. "She should no less go near Trelise Cooper than fly to the moon," laughs Fisher. watches-d Instead, Hill wanted a creativity to her dressing that was still "me" and low maintenance. The boots were dressy and stylish, but with Other articles: http://www.tcytcz.gov.cn/tcbbs/Blog.asp?BlogUserName=lookes&menu=ShowBlog&BlogID=2594 http://www.gdnanyue.com/bbs/Blog.asp?BlogUserName=1234&menu=ShowBlog&BlogID=1146
